Who We Are
Ia Orana and Aloha!
TePua Hio Hio, meaning "The Flower that Dances with the Wind," was founded in 2003 by Maria and Yenny, whose shared love, respect, and admiration for Polynesian culture and traditions inspired them to create a dance company dedicated to preserving and celebrating the heritage of the islands.
What began as a passion for learning and sharing Polynesian dance soon grew into a welcoming ʻohana (family), where students and performers could experience the beauty, history, and values of the Polynesian islands. Maria and Yenny believed that Polynesian dance is more than movement—it is a way of telling stories, honoring ancestors, and sharing the spirit of aloha with others.
Their commitment to authenticity led them to train under respected instructors from Tahiti, Hawaiʻi, California, and Washington, D.C. Through years of study and dedication, they developed a program that honors the traditions of Polynesia while creating meaningful cultural experiences for audiences and students alike.
Today, TePua Hio Hio continues that mission through engaging performances and interactive classes that celebrate the music, dances, and customs of Polynesia. Whether performing at weddings, festivals, schools, corporate events, or community celebrations, we are honored to share the warmth, beauty, and aloha spirit that Maria and Yenny envisioned when they founded TePua Hio Hio.
We invite you to experience the stories, traditions, and joy of Polynesian dance with us—where every performance is shared with respect, authenticity, and aloha.
